Bluetooth speakers are fantastic to think this small device outputs clear, loud sound with bass wirelessly connected to your phone and has a rechargeable battery making it portable is just incredible. JBL Charge 3 fulfils exactly these basic needs with its outstanding performance.

Physical Appearance

The first thing that I love about the speaker is its unique shape which adds some attraction.

There are two regular drivers placed on the front side.

On the sides, there are two passive radiators. The passive radiators are significant as compared to other speakers in the same class. At the bottom, there is a flat foot that allows the speaker to stay in an upward direction lying horizontally.

When you turn around the speaker to the back, there is a rubber flap under which three ports are present. An audio jack, a mini USB port for charging, and the last one is a USB port.

When you put the speaker on feet, you will notice a few buttons to control the speaker that is present on top. The buttons are clicky enough to work smoothly, which seals nicely. The six buttons are present to control the speaker. A Bluetooth pairing button, volume down, power on/off, JBL connect, volume up, and play/pause button.

A double press of play/pause button skips the track. But there is no provision to play the previous track. Also, you can access Siri or Google by long-pressing the play/pause button.

Sound Quality

JBL has put some excellent efforts in the sound department. Two passive radiators are working so effortlessly that it produces more transparent highs and a bit deeper bass. When you hear it once, you just can’t believe in your ears that the sound comes from this speaker. The highs are balanced.

The most appreciating thing about the speaker is it can not get distorted even at high volume. This speaker can fill the medium size room when you put the volume at 100%.

Battery Performance

Well, the most surprising factor is here.

Battery!

JBL claims that Charge 3 can survive up to 20 hours of use. This is possible only if you put the volume below 50%. In my experiment, I got 12-13 hours at a volume of 60%. But if you go for 100%, the speaker may last up to 5 hours. Five hours at hundred percent is not a bad deal.

JBL Charge 3 coming with 6000 mAh capacity, and it takes up to 4 hours to recharge.

Please note that this speaker has a USB port, that means you can use this speaker as a power bank. You can charge your smartphone by using this port. If you use the speaker used to charge the smartphone, then probably you will not get back up for the speaker.

Others

A built-in speakerphone is there to pick up the call.

The speakerphone works decently, and you can hear a clear sound at both ends.

JBL Charge 3 comes with an IPX7 rating. It means the speaker can survive in deep water, i.e., 3 feet for 30 minutes. You can enjoy the music near the beach, in the pool or bathroom also.

The Charge 3 is compatible with JBL connect features. With the help of this feature, you can connect more speakers with the JBL connect feature. You can get stereo effects when two speakers are connected.

Final Words

Overall I really love the speaker as it’s a perfect combination of balanced sound, build quality, and excellent battery life.

You can use this speaker everywhere as it comes with an IPX7 rating.

Although there are only a few disadvantages, the only thing that should be improved in the next upgrade is balance sound crisper highs and lower lows.

JBL Flip 5 is the upgraded version of Flip 4, as there are only a few changes that take place. Apart from some standard ideal features, the major upgrades are the type-c charging port, RMS output improvement, and 4800 mAh long-lasting battery.

Inside The Box.

JBL Flip 5 comes with a regular box, and not like premium packing like Flip 4. When you open the box, you will find a significant and durable cylindrical case in which a Bluetooth speaker is placed. A quick start guide and warranty card are present in another flat case. Also, you get a USB type-c charging cable. There is no ac adapter.

Design and Build quality

The entire body is wrapped with the wire mesh. The very durable rubber runs across the length of the speaker onto the sides, and it feels like this thing can really take a beating. We have the play/pause button. If you press it once, it plays or pauses the track. If you press it twice, it skips forward.

Along with these buttons, we got the volume up, down, and JBL Party boost button. When you flip the speaker again, you will notice the power button, which is OneTouch on and off. The power light indicator is right there, which is a new upgrade. The type-c port is present near the power light indicator, which is not covered under any rubber flap.

Sound Quality

The bass sounds absolutely fantastic for such a small speaker. We got little radiators on the side just like previous flip models, and these things really kick out. You can notice them vibrate as the bass is kicking out. It sounds absolutely fantastic. The lows and mids sound great. The highs at high volume tend to sound a little tinny to me. I’m not saying that as bad but sounds a little bit tinny at the max volume.

The USB type-c is wide open. Nothing is covering here, yet it can still go in the water and be perfectly okay. Since the micro USB is not waterproof, the USB type-c can handle that type of water submersion.

You don’t have to worry about the placement of the speaker. You can put it anywhere, like in the bathroom, near the pool, on the beach, etc. All credit goes to the IPX7 waterproof design.

Battery Performance

Flip 5 is packed with a 4800 mAh powerful battery, and this is something that this speaker must buy. Usually, you will not get such a massive battery capacity, especially in Bluetooth speakers. Because of this, it manages to entertain you up to 10 hours without interruption.

The most significant advantage of the speaker is here as it is coming with a type-c port. The type-c port is specially designed to reduce the charging time. Because of the type-c port, the speaker takes only up to 3 hours to charge this massive battery.

Is the new JBL Flip 5  worth buying?

I’m not really sure with the omission of JBL connect plus, without a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary jack, without voice assistant, without the ability to take calls while you’re streaming music, it’s just hard to recommend a Bluetooth speaker with so many feature omissions from the previous model. Of course,

I’m not saying it’s a lousy speaker. It absolutely sounds fantastic; it’s probably one of the better sounding portable speakers that I own. This thing is absolutely great sounding. USB type-c and 4800 mAh is something worth it. Just prioritize your needs and go for it.

Real music fans never compromise with the sound quality, especially when it comes to price. It doesn’t matter how much it costs; they are ready to pay. JBL has produced Flip series by keeping this fact in mind. After the success of earlier versions of Flip series, JBL brought Flip 4 with all-round features.

If you look at initial models of Flip series, you will miss the water-resistance feature, but JBL finally launches Flip 4 that is rated with IPX7 certification. Few more features about this speaker are long-lasting battery, voice assistant integration, etc.,

Inside The Box

As JBL Flip 4 is a premium speaker, the packing of the speaker is also looking premium. When you open the box, you will get a pouch containing a quick start guide and warranty details. After that, you will find a Bluetooth speaker placed on very soft cushioning. There is also a JBL micro USB cable for charging. The quality of the cable is also premium.

Build Quality

When you hold the speaker in hand, you will feel the quality of the speaker. JBL has done exceptionally well engineering on this speaker. Flip 4 is wrapped in the wire mesh combination that not only gives JBL devices an attractive look but also contributes to the sturdy exterior that protects the internal components from the elements.

Additionally, the rubber end caps that sit over the exterior passive radiators add some extra soft feel. The exterior passive radiators themselves have a more rounded appearance. At the backside of the speaker, there are two ports, i.e., charging port and 3.5mm audio port, that are covered under the tight rubber port.

Now let’s take a look at the button to access the device. The speaker has four buttons built into the wire mesh toward the back of the speaker and two buttons built into the plastic bar that runs along the back of the device. A Play button and the volume up, down, and Bluetooth pairing button are located in the wire mesh.

The Play button can be used to access either Google Assist or Siri.

Sound Quality

The JBL Flip 4 hands down sound great at all levels, i.e., low, high, and mid-range, and pumps out insanely great sounding bass for its size, driven by the passive radiators. Additionally, the audio from the JBL Flip 4 carries well outdoors and will crank out a clean and clear sound that will reach everybody’s ears at a backyard party or pool.

Passive radiators work exceptionally well. When you play bass-riched songs, there is a vibrating movement on both sides of the speaker that looks very interesting.

Battery Backup

One of the strong reasons to buy this product is its outstanding battery performance. Coming with 3000 mAh capacity, JBL flip four manages to perform up to 9 hours at a 60-70% volume level. This is something that most of the people are looking for. It takes nearly 4 hours to get fully charged from zero to a hundred percent.

Miscellaneous

JBL Flip 4 is an IPX7 rated speaker. An IPX7 rating means the speaker can survive even in water for up to 30 minutes. Also, this speaker is dustproof so that you can use this on the beach too.

Flip 4 is compatible with the JBL Connect+ feature. This feature allows you to connect multiple JBL Bluetooth speakers at a time to experience the party atmosphere. You can connect up to 100 speakers together.

Call quality of the speaker is good enough to hear the clear voice from both ends, but there should be an improvement in noise cancellation.

Conclusion

In my opinion, JBL Flip 4 is an all-rounder speaker packed with almost all essential features of an ideal Bluetooth speaker. I strongly recommend this speaker if your budget allows you.

JBL Flip 3 is a third Bluetooth speaker from the JBL Flip series after Flip Essential and Flip 2. For your kind information, in the earlier models of Flip series, there was no waterproof or water resistance feature. But, Flip 3 is certified by the IPX5 rating, which means it is a splashproof Bluetooth speaker. Let’s see some other upgrades in detail.

Build Quality

The first thing I love about JBL Flip 3 is its design. Durable fabric material and rugged rubber housing make this speaker look premium.

It has a really cool fabric mesh design that covers most of the speakers except for the back portion, which houses a couple of buttons and battery life indicators. An auxiliary port is there; if you do not have Bluetooth on a device and you want to pair, then you can just plug the device directly in with an auxiliary cord.

Also, it has a micro USB port near the auxiliary port. Both ports are covered up by a little flap to help make sure that it retains the splash-proof features that we know and love too.

It also has some cool tactile buttons at the top. The first of which are a Bluetooth button, a minus & plus button for volume control, and the call button to answer and take calls. It has external noise canceling and echo canceling features that work up to mark. There is a little bit of noise on both ends, but it doesn’t matter as this feature is not used frequently.

Battery Performance

The most surprising fact about this speaker is its battery life. JBL states that it has a battery life of up to ten hours, and while I did not test this thing for ten hours straight, I can’t say that. In my personal use pretty much having it running for most of the day while I’m at work, it has never died on me; it didn’t have any battery life issues.

In fact, I barely think I even scraped losing a single or a couple of dots of battery life on this guy. The charge is super quick, so you do not have to worry about it.

The Sound Quality

You can probably find more prominent Bluetooth speakers in the market for cheaper as well, but for everything that you’re getting in this package, you’re not going to be able to compete with the sound at this price point.

JBL Flip 3 is one of the most highly reviewed Amazon products, and it’s for a reason whenever people buy this, they know they can trust they’re going to be getting fantastic sound quality.

It does tend to emphasize the lows a little bit, and I personally enjoy that, so that works well for my tastes. But if you’re looking for a flat reference monitor, this is not it. It does all this without distorting very much, especially at the high volume levels, which is really convenient.

It has a really cool bass exhaust on both top and bottom of the speaker allowing for it to get that deep low. Thanks to its powerful passive radiators that enhance your experience. It is slightly diminished when you use the speaker in the upright mode. Overall when you set it sideways on the side, you’re going to get the excellent full, fabulous, rich sound that you will love.

JBL Connect feature allows you to connect several speakers to boost your party experience.

Final Words

In my opinion, this could be a great choice if your budget is around seven thousand rupees. You will get everything that every ideal speaker needs, especially the JBL signature sound.

After the success of Flip Essential, JBL launched Flip 2 in December 2013. The main features of this speaker are SoundClear echo and noise cancellation, NFC, signature sound, etc.

Inside The Box

When you open the box, you will get two cylindrical-shaped items, i.e., one is a JBL Flip 2 portable Bluetooth speaker, and another is a durable case. You can keep your speaker in the case and use it for portability and carry it safely on the drives, and all you can like it will be safe in your backpack.

Also, you get an adapter and USB cable for charging. This cable and adapter are placed in that cylindrical case. There is a quick start guide with some essential instructions present in the box. All the stuff is well packed in a precise way.

Design and Build Quality

JBL Flip 2 measures approximately 16 cm in length and around 6.5 cm wide. It is available in five different colors that look very attractive and eye-catchy. It seems very long-lasting as it is made up of durable aluminum with silicon grip. A JBL branding is embossed on its front-facing side that looks very premium.

On the backside of the speaker, you will find two ports. A micro USB port is there to recharge the Bluetooth speaker and a 3.5 mm audio jack for the wired connection or Bluetooth less connection. Besides these ports, five tiny, white-colored LED lights indicate the percentage of battery.

On the left-hand side, five buttons are present for controlling the speaker; a volume up, volume down, Bluetooth pairing, calling, and power on/off button. While on the right-hand side, there is NFC ( Near Field Connectivity). NFC allows you to connect the mobile instantly without Bluetooth. To use this feature, your device must be compatible with NFC.

Battery Performance

With the capacity of 2000 mAh, Li-ion batteries can last up to 4 hours with a 60% volume. If you increase the volume, then you will not get even 4 hours backup. Don’t know why a 2000 mAh battery lasts only for a few hours. It takes almost 3 to get fully charged.

Sound Quality

The sound of JBL Flip 2 can fill the medium size room with sufficient bass. If we talk about mids and high, it is decent. Please note that this speaker is not ideal for those who want an extra bass or something to rock the party with a big sound. If we consider its price, the sound is good enough.

I think this speaker is perfect for listening to something like pop and hip-hop. When you increase the volume at 100%, the speaker starts to distort a little bit, but still, it’s listenable.

Rest of all

The speakerphone option does work quite effectively with excellent noise cancellation. But a small ambient noise is there in the background though it’s okay at this range.

JBL Flip 2 stays connected with your device up to 30m after that connection starts to lose, and sound gets disturbed. Its 4.2 Bluetooth technology works seamlessly.

This speaker is neither waterproof nor water-resistant. I think most people are very disappointed with this fact, but again it’s all about the budget.

Final Words

So, JBL Flip 2 impressed me with its rugged design and other few features. This speaker is perfect for indoor use to listen to music, or watch youtube videos in loud volume. But the only disappointment with this speaker is it’s not waterproof.  Also, battery backup should be a little bit more. But as I told you, it’s all about budget.

If your budget allows you to invest a few more money, to get the waterproof feature, go for Flip 4 or Flip 5.

JBL Pulse 4 is a high budget Bluetooth speaker that was launched by legendary brand JBL in 2019. This is the fourth model from the Pulse series. JBL upgrading features and bringing a revolution in the Bluetooth speaker sector. Basically, Pulse series focuses on the light effect that grabs the attention of everyone and JBL never fails to do this. There are a lot of changes in the design and styling of Pulse 4. Let’s check out.

Build Quality and Design

The most apparent difference is they’ve made the acrylic on the outside which actually I think is quite a significant improvement. I like the look of this. Colors are just brighter and more vibrant.

The most surprising fact is, even when you’re not playing the music a typical lava lamp adds a really nice ambience to a room.

When it comes to button placements, they’ve also changed.

Around the top of the JBL Pulse 4, you’ve got the volume up, volume down, play, pause button. In the middle, you’ve got the power and Bluetooth switch. You’ve got a dedicated button to switch the different light patterns between the preloaded ones, and you can customize that too.

There is a USB C charging, and there’s no cover over there because this is a waterproof charging port. Above that, you’ve actually got a power indicator which is just a little light bar which looks fantastic as well aesthetically it’s very pleasing. Under the glass, you got the small exclamation mark which looks beautiful. At the top of the poles, you’ve got a 2.25-inch driver, and it’s got a metal grille over the top with the JBL pattern.

At the bottom, you have a passive radiator, and it’s got the little exclamation mark there as well.

Sound Quality

There is a lot of improvement in sound. If we talk about the base, it’s surprisingly better than the previous model. Every character of the music can be heard clearly. During performing high notes, it does not get distorted, which is a significant change.

Mid-range is a little bit muddy and lows are also good. The speaker can fill the large room because of its 360 degrees sound. Pulse 3 is perfect for the party as we can connect several speakers with the help of Party boost feature.

Battery Performance

The JBL Pulse 4 is packed with a massive number of LEDs, so obviously, it needs the powerful battery backup. JBL has provided a 7200 mAh powerful battery to make sure your performance can’t get interrupted. JBL has claimed the 12-hours battery backup and trust me, with a volume of 50%, you will get more than 12 hours.

Again the battery backup depends on the intensity of LEDs and content type; it may vary. Because of the type c port, it manages to charge fully within three hours.

The speaker is certified with an IPX7 rating. It can survive in deep water.

Remember

The JBL Pulse is specially designed for the party; hence the JBL has focused on physical appearance, base, and LEDs etc. Several features are missing like calling function, voice assist, etc. So if these features are in your priority list, this speaker may disappoint you.

Final words

Despite the high budget speaker, JBL Pulse 4 is worth buying. I am thoroughly impressed by its overall performance. Especially the battery performance and LED light. Though this speaker has eliminated significant features, it could be the best option for indoor as well as outdoor parties.

JBL Pulse 3 comes in the awesome box. The presentation and the unboxing experience is fantastic with this speaker, and you definitely want to keep the box.

Inside the box

Inside the box, you get the JBL pulse 3 itself that’s wrapped in some foam. Towards the left side of the box, you have another box that contains some paperwork, the charging brick, and the charging cable. The charging brick has folding prongs, and the cable is micro USB as you can see their orange, which makes it super easy to find in a bag.

Build Quality and Physical Appearance

At the front, you have the JBL logo, and you have a bunch of stuff on the back. Towards the top, you have five battery indicator lights and seven buttons.

These buttons are a power button, volume buttons, a play, and a pause button, that you can also use to access your voice assistant, a Bluetooth button, a JBL connect plus button, and a button to cycle between the different choices.

The LED area is made out of some hard plastic/glass material, and I would be careful not to drop the pulse three because the LED area could break. The LED area also collects fingerprints very easily. Still, it’s not very noticeable when it’s on, and you can easily clean it off.

Also, in the back, there is a little rubber flap that hides the aux port and the micro USB input for charging. The small rubber flap prevents the water from getting into those ports, which is excellent because this speaker has an IPX7 waterproof rating that means that you can completely submerge the pulse three underwater for up to three feet deep for 30 minutes.

On the top and bottom of the pulse 3, you have the passive radiators that help improve the bass response, and it’s just super fun to look at while you’re blasting music.

In my opinion, another thing that is pleasing to look at is the area with the LEDs. It goes all the way around the speaker, so you get a 360-degree viewing experience, which is fantastic.

When in Bluetooth pairing mode, the LED area turns blue, and it turns green momentarily when it starts charging this speaker. It also has a 360-degree sound, which goes along great with the light show, and these two features just compliment each other perfectly.

Sound Quality

The JBL pulse 3 has 360 degrees sound, as I have mentioned before, and it’s pretty amazing. It can get deafening, and it can easily fill up a room with sound.

Everything sounds super clear, and the base is excellent, even at the higher volumes. The base sounds like it’s in the middle between a neutral sound profile and a bass-boosted sound profile. In short, if you like bass, you’re definitely going to love these speakers sound good in pretty much any genre of music.

Battery Performance

The Pulse 3 is coming with a battery of 6000 mAh capacity. JBL claims that this speaker has up to 12-hour battery life, but that depends on how loud you blast these speakers and the brightness of the LED light show. If you want to use the speaker with full volume and with LEDs at high intensity, then you can not get much battery back up.

Others

The JBL Pulse 3 comes with Connect + feature. If you have multiple JBL speakers with the connect plus feature, you can pair over a hundred of these things together and have them play at the same time.

Pulse 3 has an inbuilt speakerphone, which means that you can take calls through the speaker. The sound quality is pretty good, and I could hear the other person with no problem; the other person can also listen to me clearly, but when you’re taking calls, make sure you stand a reasonable distance.

Final Words

The JBL pulse 3 is a fantastic speaker to have, and I highly recommend picking one up. It is a portable Bluetooth speaker with an IPX7 rating so you can bring it pretty much anywhere, but be careful with the LED area. Speaking about the LED area, it’s super fun to look at, and you can customize the excellent look. The 360-degree sound and the 360-degree LED light show goes together perfectly, in my opinion. The sound quality is crystal clear, and the bass is incredible as well.

JBL Pulse 2 is a second Bluetooth speaker from JBL Pulse series. In case you don’t know, Pulse series is based on impressive LED lights that give a 360-degree effect. The previous model, i.e., Pulse 1, comes with some basic features, but in Pulse 2, several changes take place.

Inside The Box

When you open the box, it contains an instruction book, the power cube, and we also have a USB cable. The cool thing about these guys they’re in like this orange color, which is JBL colors and easy to find compared to the other types of chargers. Also, here we have the speaker itself. All kinds of stuff are placed very neatly, that looks premium.

Build Quality

When you pick up the JBL Pulse 2, you will feel some weight. Let’s talk about design. The build material looks like some hard injected molded plastic looks like it has a built-in like subwoofer.

You can see that move and another subwoofer over there. So they’re basically a push and pull system if you actually can see that.

Push and pull gives you that extra bass response. There is an excellent grill, and you also have the beautiful JBL logo in orange color that looks fantastic at the front. By turning around the speaker, you will find a lot of buttons. There are a total of seven buttons.

A power button, Bluetooth pairing button, pattern changing button, volume up, volume down, JBL Connect, and the last play/pause button. The small five-light indicators are there to indicate the charging. After that, you will find a rubber flap under which two ports are present. One is an audio jack, and another is a charging port. The flap is tight as its IPX5 rated speaker.

Now the unique thing about the speaker is, there’s a little sensor on the back. The sensor picks up colors from the background, so the cool thing is you can get one of those LED lights and have it to switch different colors, and this will actually change the lighting of the speaker’s to match that light.

The speaker is water-resistant, not waterproof. So under normal circumstances, if it’s raining or drizzling, you definitely want to get into a dry spot.

Sound Quality

The JBL pulse 2 has a little bit louder sound than pulse 1, which is a significant improvement.

The pulse 2 has a higher power output, and you can hear that difference in its sound.

There is a little bit of better bass performance from pulse two, but the difference is not as big as I was expecting. The most significant improvement for me here is that pulse 2 has less distortion while reproducing lower bass notes. Still, as far as hitting lowest frequency notes, it’s only at a maximum volume that you notice.

The highs on opposed to sounds slightly better if you’re right in front of it, and that’s because both the drivers are pumping right at you. But, as you move away to the back, the power street starts sounding way better.

Battery Performance

JBL has claimed 10 Hrs of battery back up, but there are a lot of factors on which its backup depends. In most of the cases, people use its light effect, and full sound as both features are the identity of JBL.

But, if you use the whole sound and LEDs with full intensity, then you probably will not get 10 hours of battery backup. At the medium sound and intensity of lights, you will get 6-7 hours of reserve. The battery of JBL Pulse 2 takes 4 hours to reach full charge from zero to a hundred percent.

Final Words

So if you are a lover of pulse series, and want to upgrade the speaker from the same series, go for Pulse 4 as pulse 2 has some drawbacks like you can not use it underwater, less durable than Pulse 4, etc.

JBL Pulse is another hit series from the most popular Bluetooth speaker manufacturer JBL. The entire series is based on the Pulse, i.e. running light effects on the whole speaker. This is a unique feature, and it separates the Pulse series from ordinary speakers.

Inside The Box

As the Pulse series is expensive, the packaging of the speaker also looks expensive. You will get premium packaging for this entire series.

The first thing you will notice when opening the box is the manual and then a protective foam cover. Once you remove that cover, you can see the speaker and another box with the accessories. The small box contains the micro USB cable, JBL USB power supply, which is rated from 100 to 240 volts 50 to 60 Hertz, and it outputs 5 volts 2.3 m/s. The speaker itself is placed in the plastic polythene in the soft cushioning cover.

Design and Build Quality

The JBL Pulse is made mainly out of plastic that has a rubbery feel to it. So dust and dirt will be able to cling onto it. The grill that wraps around about 90% of the body is made out of metal and covers the 64 multicoloured LEDs just right behind it. When the power button is pressed, the speaker will give you visual feedback by lighting up the LEDs.

On the back, there is Pulse imprinted, and on one side, we have pretty much all the controls and, on the other hand, we have nothing. On the left side of the speaker, we have pretty much all the controls, which will allow you to do multiple tasks. In the middle, we have the power control, and to the right of it, there is a Bluetooth link button.

On the left Bluetooth link button, we have the lighting control button that allows you to cycle through the presets, and we also have our volume up and down controls. We have touch sensors for the colours and the intensity on the right or the bottom of the speaker. We have our near-field communications sensor on the right side that allows devices with NFC to connect to the speaker by touching it. On the back of the unit, we have an auxiliary 3.5-millimetre mini-jack input as well as a micro USB input for charging the device. On the back to the right, we have five white LED lights that serve as battery level indicators, so you will have an idea of how much charge is left in your speaker.

Sound Quality

Basically, the highs are excellent in this thing. The mid sounds nice and clear. But, there is a small disappointment with the bass, which is my personal opinion. I think this speaker has a lack of bass, so if you’re a bass lover and you’re looking for something with bass, this is definitely not going to work for you. But, the vocals and instruments sound good. Overall so the sound quality is definitely okay.

Battery backup

The JBL Pulse will be able to give you five hours of playback with the light show, and without the lights, it could be up to eight hours at medium volume. The battery is coming with 4000 mAh capacity and takes up to 4 hours to fully charge.

Final Words

Please note that JBL Pulse is not a bass-riched Bluetooth speaker. I think JBL has taken a lot of effort into its physical appearance to grab the attention. It is a unique speaker with a visual light show, and it’s just fun to look at like never before.

Inside The Box

In the box, you get the JBL Go 2 speaker itself, and before you throw this box away, make sure you take the micro USB cable out of this small box at the bottom. I like the design of this speaker, and after using it for some time, I can see why it is so popular.

Build Quality

The new version JBL Go 2 is coated with this rubber-like material, which feels very pleasant to touch. This material will catch oils from your fingers quickly, but a solution I found for this problem was not to touch it when your hands are oily.

There is a white LED present under the mesh, looks very nice and turns red to tell you that it’s charging. This champagne color looks very nice, but it also comes in many different colors, which are unique for Bluetooth speakers.

It has this prominent JBL branding on both sides, so they seem to be proud of this product. It doesn’t look bad, though, and on the back, it also adds to the grip. This new version is curvier than before, and I think that it looks better. The front has a metal grill, and the buttons are under the outer layer, so that makes them accessible but protected from water.

The charging port, which should’ve been USB type C, and the AUX input are also sealed with the tight flap that you’ll have to use every time you want to charge this.

Battery Backup

The battery of JBL Go 2 lasts for 5 hours, which isn’t a lot, but it should last for longer if you’re listening to something that doesn’t have a lot going on. Also it takes 2.5 hours to get fully charged.

Sound Quality

Now coming on to the sound quality, it’s excellent for its size, but it is not that great for its price. You are buying this speaker for its portability, waterproofing, design, JBL branding, and the general quality of electronics that come with that. But you shouldn’t buy it for its sound quality.

The bass is good for its size, but this isn’t great for electronic music. Only the mid-bass will be audible, and it won’t have the impact that you can have with more prominent Bluetooth speakers in the same price range. The mids are perfect, and it is excellent for watching TV shows, movies, and YouTube videos. Vocals sound great too, and so makes Indian music. The highs are good, they are very present, but their quality and definition aren’t excellent.

JBL Go 2 has a single 3 watt 40mm driver, which isn’t big even for its size, and the problem with having only a single speaker for stereo playback is that both channels have to be handled by a single driver, so there’s more distortion.

The volume of this speaker is perfect for its size, and it can fill a small room with sound.

The sound also doesn’t distort at the highest volumes, which is very impressive, and it’s also fun to feel the vibrations in your hands or on your body, as the driver pushes itself to its limits when music is played loudly.

Others

The most significant upgrade from the previous model is that JBL Go 2 is now IPX7 waterproof. So, you can use it in the bathroom, or on the beach, you don’t have to worry about rain or other wet things that you might have around you.

The microphone sounds excellent, and you can easily talk to someone while having this speaker away from your mouth. I am happy with this.

Final Words

So conclusion, I think that if you’re looking for a speaker of this size, which also has waterproofing, and will be lasting long, you should go for it. It sounds perfect for its size. But if sound quality is your priority, you could go for something else. If you do not need waterproofing, the JBL Go 1 is probably a better option, and it also can be attached to a strap, which they removed in this new version for some reason. It doesn’t sound much worse than the Go 2 and should perform similarly well in all areas.
