Generally, we have seen hand grenades in movies. The Boat stone grenade speaker has a design that looks like a mini hand grenade. I just love the Boat products because they keep experimenting on the design, material, features, etc. so that they can improve these areas. Let’s take look at boAt Stone Grenade 5W Portable Bluetooth Speaker.

Inside The Box

The design of the box gives the military feel as there are graphics of military areas printed on the box. When you open the box, you will find a Bluetooth speaker, which is placed comfortably in the foam. Apart from it, you get a charging cable, aux cable, some manual, and warranty card.

Design and Build Quality

When it comes to design, Boat will never disappoint you. You got a Bluetooth speaker that looks like a hand grenade. The speaker has a mono speaker on one side and a bass radiator on another side.

The entire body is wrapped with high-quality fabric. The top portion is made up of plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap. It has a super-premium feel when you hold it in your hand.

On one side of the speaker, you will get four buttons. These buttons are of volume up, volume down, Bluetooth pairing, and power on/off button. All buttons are clicky and tactile.

At the bottom of the speaker, you will get some ports. There are three ports available: a micro USB port for the charging, aux port for the non-Bluetooth devices, and the most surprising a micro SD card port. It supports the maximum capacity of 32 GB. You can listen to music by inserting the SD card directly.

All the ports are covered with a rubber flap. Also, the rubber flap covers the whole base of the speaker. You got a strap so that you can hang it wherever you want.

There is a tiny LED indicator to indicate pairing mode, battery condition, charging status, etc.

Sound Quality

Well, Boat Stone Grenade is a 5W mono speaker, and you will be surprised by hearing the sound of this mono speaker.

The mids and lows are perfectly balanced that produce a lot of excellent quality audio. The highs are not over-sharpened at all. The vocals are pretty crisp, clear. Even at high volume, you will hardly find any distortion.

The base is imposing for such a compact Bluetooth speaker.  The speaker is really loud and sufficient for indoors.

Battery Backup

The Boat Stone Grenade powered with a 1200 mAh battery. The fully charged Bluetooth speaker can last up to 7 hours at a volume of 60%. Also, the speaker gets fully charged in two hours. 

Others

The speaker is IPX6 rated. Hence you can use it in the rainy condition as it is a water resistance speaker. Also the speaker is shockproof. In case your speaker falls on ground accidently, you don’t have to worry about it.

Call quality is not up to mark as there is some noise during the call.

The only disappointment I found during the usage is it has less Bluetooth connectivity range. Although Boat has claimed the range of connectivity is 10m, but after 7 meters, sound tends to break.
